Cute Comparison Of Maine Coon Cat Vs. A Regular Cat Is Going Viral

Cat lovers know that Maine Coon cats are distinctive for their larger-than-life looks and unique personality. In addition, the Maine Coon cat shares many similarities with regular cats since they are both members of the same Feline family.

Regardless, if you were to glance at a Maine Coon cat and compare it with a typical house cat, you would immediately know they were different. This video from @louiethebigcat is a perfect example that highlights the differences between the Maine Coon cat and a regular cat.

As viewers see, these two cats couldn't be more different. For starters, one cat is 15 years old, while the Maine Coon is just 4 years old. Next, their size difference is apparent while the two cats chill on the couch. 

In the comments, people were blown away by the sheer size difference. "My cat is a domestic shorthair, but he is almost as big as a Maine Coon. We don't know if he is mixed, though," wrote goaway_bro_14_3. "They're both beautiful," admired @jennymdowdell. 

The primary difference between Maine Coons and other cats is their size and body shape. While Maine Coons are still considered cats, this breed is known for being much bigger than your average Feline. 

For instance, a typical house cat usually weighs about 10 lbs. However, Maine Coons can weigh up to 25 lbs. 

According to experts, most typical domesticated cats have a compact body shape called a cobby. However, they can also have a long body type called foreign. In contrast, the Maine Coon cat has a large, boxy shape due to its unique genetics.

Regardless both types of cats are such a joy to pet parents who are lucky enough to have them.
